DON'T THINK FOR ONE SECOND THAT AUSTRALIANS ALL TALK LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, LOL. THIS IS ONLY AN EXAMPLE OF THE TERMINOLOGY USED HERE....AND YOU WONT FIND A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE THAT USE IT ALL THE TIME, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY TO READ.YOU MORE OFTEN THAN NOT WILL HEAR THE OLDER GENERATIONS MAYBE TALKING LIKE THIS...MAYBE YOUR OUTBACK FARMERS.
G’day …. Let me tell you a fair dinkum story of some dinky-di ockers …
G'day of course is "hi", fairdinkum means "real", and dinki di ockers are "real true Ozzies"
Well, there’s this bloke and this sheila, right ….. chucked a sickie and hit the frog’n’toad. Coupla bludgers they were. Packed up the billy lids and decided to have a captain cook from the top of the coathanger.
Well there's this guy and this girl right, they took a day off work ( frog n toad means "Road"), Bludgers are lazy ppl. illiy lids are "kids", captain cook means "look"....and I have no idea what COATHANGER is.........and I'm Australian geeeeeesh, where do ya come up with this stuff ROFL.
Up they went, Macca, his missus, and the ankle biters. “Strewth, Marje, the blokes down there look like cockies from up here!”. “Geez, Macca, you’re a dag. Careful or you’ll come a gutser leaning over the edge like that.”
Missus is "wife"....I think we know that ankle biters are kids lol. Strewth means OMG !!!!!!!!, Blokes are "men", well a dag is a dag LOL, what can I say, a dag is really what hangs off a sheeps butt , but then we call people dags if they dress bad. "Come a gutser" means to fall over...in a bad way hahaha.
“Fair suck of the sav, Marje, I’m not within cooee of coming a gutser.”
fairs suck of the sav hmmmm, lol, well that means " be fair", " not within cooee" means not even close.
Well, with that, Marje spits the dummy, finishes the climb down the coathanger, packs them all in the ute and they head off to the SCG to watch a game of aerial pingpong. The Eagles have a rip snorter of a game and beat the pants off the Swans. After a liquid laugh from all the tinnies Macca’s downed at the footy, they decide to spend the arvo at the beach.
"spits the dummy" means to get pi$$ed off...I still don't know what a coathanger is ROFL, but for hanging your clothes on. a "Ute" is a utility otherwise known as a pickup truck. The SCG is the Sydney cricket ground, and "aerial ping pong" is football. "rip snorter" means excellent. A " liduid laugh" means spew/chuck/vomit eeeewwwww, a "tinnie" is a can of beer. "arvo" means afternoon.
With the esky topped up with tinnies and a cold chook, and the budgie smugglers on, they get on the dog and bone to see if their mate, bluey, wants to meet them at the beach. “Naah, mate, I’m flat out like a lizard drinking. I’ll see ya’s at the boozer tomorrow.”
What are Budgie smuglers??....the "dog and bone" is the phone. "the boozer" is the pub...or place you buy booze/alcohol at lol.
“No worries, Bluey, catchya.”
So, they’re at the beach and Macca, who’s got kangaroos loose in the top paddock, swims outside the flags and gets caught in a rip. Bloody good thing the true blue aussie life saver is there. She’ll be right.
Well, Macca is as mad as a cut snake and the family decides to call it a day.
As mad as a "cut snake"...well you can guess a cut snake would be pretty mad.
They pack the ute, with a flag waving from the roo bar, and head for home.
The "roo" bar, is the bullbar on the front of the car...roo being short for kangaroo.
And that, cobbers, is a day in the life of the aussie battler.
"cobbers" are mates.......and an aussie battler is a typical ozzie.
Hooroo
hoorooo....means cya later.
See ya round like a rissole.......I betcha , you dunno how to translate that one !!!!
