This is specifically about Rachel Joy Scott
Hi all, I have read this book " Rachels tears" three times. It has had great impact on my life.Such sadness for this girl...she was the target of two boys who went on a rampage at Columbine High...they specifically wanted to kill her because of her Christian faith that ultimately cost her life. Her last words to the Killers when they asked her if she believed in God and that Jesus would save her was "YES", then they shot her.If you get a chance you might want to get this book and read her diary entries. This girl was not just any 16 yo, she was amazingly full of the love of God, oblivious to any darkness in this world she was as pure as you can be in these times. I guess her death has served a purpose...for us to read her story. There are more books about her, but this one I like, it's written by her parents, and has accounts from other students that survived and knew her. This girl touched so many people, she was known to be the freind to the loners at school, the students that had nobody, disabled students, and anyone else she thought needed love, she was taunted for it at times, but she continued on her path until she was murdered.
Synopsis
A moving meditation on the life, death, and faith of Rachel Scott as seen through the eyes of her parents and in her own words. The Columbine tragedy in April 1999 pierced the heart of our country. In December 1999, we learned that the teenage killers specifically targeted Rachel Scott and mocked her Christian faith on their chilling, homemade video tapes. Rachel Scott died for her faith. Now her parents talk about Rachel's life and how they have found meaning in their daughter's martyrdom in the aftermath of the school shooting. Using excerpts and drawings from Rachel's own journals, they offer a spiritual perspective on the Columbine tragedy and provide a vision of hope for preventing youth violence across the nation.
